Portfolio Building (PB) is a course designed to help students build a quality portfolio which shows the students’ skills & abilities in a professional way. This course is split into 2 modules as shown below and allows students to choose which one is most suitable for them. We train our students to the highest level of practical education and this course is aimed at students who wish to develop and enhance a portfolio using professional models, photographer and photographic studio to produce a series of Total Look photographs for your portfolio. You will receive thorough training and advanced practical skills and knowledge in the following area:

Module 1: 4 Total Looks

• Student Tutor discussion about the Total Looks
• Introduction to selected students from the makeup, hair & wardrobe departments
• Students introduction to their models – 2 models for 2 days
• Together, students will design 4 Total Looks of their choosing, using makeup & hair plans and style analysis/storyboards for each look
• 2 day photographic shoot – 2 Total Looks per day
• Review

This is a 6 day p/t program for students who wish to build a quality portfolio containing 4 professional photographic shots of their total looks. Students can expect to work in a way that is conducive in the industry i.e. each department coming together to produce the look required. All artists involved in this photo shoot will each receive a CD containing all shots taken.

Fees & Information

The modules in this section can be taken separately or as a complete program. They can also be mixed and matched with other course modules in different areas i.e. SFX Makeup or, Wigs & Hair etc... The choice is yours.

This course opens a series of opportunities for the student. These are:

• Possible work experience whilst training (for those with high skills)
• Blazing Sables Agency placement. Only available to the most outstanding students
• During & After graduation help, support and advice

Student Kits

Student Kits To keep our fees low and at a very competitive rate, we do not include a student kit, products, tools and equipment in our fees. By doing it this way allows students to add to their basic required kit as they go along, using products they prefer. Also, all students must have their own kits to practise with while away from the college. Some products, tools & equipment will be available for use on the course but you are required to purchase these items to add to your own personal kit.

Blazing Sables have prepared a list of makeup kits, products & tools required for each of the courses that a student intends to cover. Many of the makeup kits are Kryolan & Ben Nye based (except for wigs & hair courses) and have been personally designed by us in association with our sponsors Charles Fox of Covent Garden London. We have secured an arrangement with Charles Fox for our students to receive an instant 10% discount and some freebees which are already added into the kit.

Please note! The 10% discount is included in the kit price. Students are required to purchase extra products and tools to be used on your course; a list will be given to students at their interview. Many of the extra products and tools can be purchased cheaply at high street outlets.

Venue: Waltham Forest College
Start dates: Regularly throughout the year for all modules
Days: Saturday or Sunday

Day times: 10am – 4pm
Evening times: 6pm – 9pm
Length of course: Module 1: 6 days – Module 2: 8 days

These course modules are run every Saturday or Sunday plus 2 evenings per week, totalling 12 hours per week for the time of your course.

Application & Enrolment Forms

Please download your application & enrolment forms. Tick the module/s that you wish to attend, fill in the required fields and attach a small passport size colour head & shoulder picture of yourself and post it to Blazing Sables Head Office. Please read and keep your enrolment form for your own records. Upon receipt of your application form, an appointment will be made for you to attend the relevant college for an interview with the course principal Stella Photis. Whilst attending your interview, you will be shown the relevant facilities where you will receive your training. Upon a successful interview, a 50% deposit will be required to reserve your place on your chosen module/s. See our Terms & Condition
